국제백신연구소는 오는 9월 2-6일 IVI 국제백신연구소 서울 본부에서 백신학 분야 연구자를 대상으로 23번째 백신학 교육을 개최합니다.

A safe, effective, and accessible vaccine is a remarkable prevention tool, representing scientific discovery, multisectoral partnership, and a collective goal to build healthy, productive societies. Vaccines reduce illness, disability, and death from various infectious diseases; help children and adults thrive; and strengthen economies. But at the end of the day, vaccines are vials of potential. To tap their actual impact, vaccines must be used widely. The 23rd International Vaccinology Course explores the basics of vaccinology and the process involved in creating vaccines—how they are developed, tested, regulated, and approved—while emphasizing their ultimate utility: vaccination.

What challenges must we overcome to ensure vaccines are used and do not expire on shelves? How do we shape markets that demand vaccines? How do we provide a sustainable supply for routine immunization and emergencies? How do we instill and maintain confidence in vaccines and their benefits to society? Join us for a five-day intensive course on the full value of vaccines, from the science to their impact on our everyday lives.

Established in 2000, IVI’s International Vaccinology Course (IVC) is one of the longest-running vaccinology courses in Asia. This training program to build knowledge and practical skills related to the science of vaccines and how they are developed is a vital component of IVI’s work to accelerate the development of safe, effective, and affordable vaccines for global health.

The course aims to train vaccine professionals, including participation from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), with input from world-renowned experts from various fields in vaccinology, immunology, epidemiology, communication, and more as faculty members. Through lectures, quizzes, case studies, networking opportunities, and site visits to tour local vaccine manufacturing facilities, the course is an inclusive and immersive experience. For over 20 years, the IVC has trained nearly 5,000 vaccine professionals worldwide and certified an additional 1,100 participants through an online course, fostering lasting collaborative partnerships in research and public health.

The IVC is usually hosted annually at IVI’s headquarters in Seoul, Republic of Korea. For the first time, the 23rd edition will be held simultaneously at two additional locations: Stockholm, Sweden, and Kigali, Rwanda, where IVI’s Europe Regional Office and Africa Regional Office are located.
